BIWA – Because I’m a Wild Animal

Welcome to BIWA.LIFE

In BIWA we focus on the most important part of life:
your mental and physical health.

Our mission is to reconnect our mind with our body in a natural way just like the animals we truly are inside. We will work on finding the right balance between the things that matter the most: nutrition, mental health, sleep, and physical activity.

Eat: Less refined sugars, more raw foods, more water – vegetables unlimited! High-fat, high-protein, low-refined-carbs diet.

Breathe: Deep breathes, proper oxygenation to the brain and body, meditation, mindfulness, focusing on one day at a time.

Sleep: The importance of sleep, brain and body regeneration time, we need between 7- 8 hours minimum.

Movement: Reactivation of the body, movement in every direction, awareness and connection, animal locomotion, and of course Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

My name is Gabriel and I will be your guide through this life long journey to a better life as the wild animal we really are, bringing out the best version of you, in this modern world of today.

Head Coach: Professor Gabriel Marcel

Gabriel Marcel, born March 28, 1987 in Quito, Ecuador, and raised in the Andean village of Machachi, brings a unique blend of cultural heritage and global experience to his role as Head Coach at biwa.life. At 38, Gabriel has dedicated his life to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), nutrition, and holistic well-being — inspiring his students to unlock their full potential through disciplined movement and mindful living.

His BJJ journey began in 2010 — over 15 years of relentless training. After 14 years of intense practice, he earned his black belt, solidifying his expertise in traditional Gi BJJ. His competition highlights include 1st place at the IBJJF German National Championship 2017, 1st place at the IBJJF Lisbon International Championship 2018, 2nd place at the National Ecuadorian Championship 2023, and numerous podium finishes across Europe and South America. These victories showcase not only his technical mastery but also his gift for guiding students toward their own breakthroughs — on and off the mat.

At biwa.life, Gabriel’s coaching creates a warm, joyful atmosphere — fueled by great music and true team spirit. He teaches classic Gi BJJ with precision, enriched by innovative natural movement elements. His social skills ensure every student feels part of the family — friendships grow alongside technical progress.

Gabriel’s vision for biwa.life rests on four simple pillars: Eat well, breathe deep, sleep enough, move in all directions. Through a healthy lifestyle of traditional BJJ, self-defense, and primal movement, he empowers people to honor the wild animal within — with discipline, balance, and the pursuit of their best selves.

Join biwa.life and transform body, mind, and soul with Gabriel.
